In 2012, Australia added to the Assessing Fitness to Drive Regulations a new provision to allow the use of telescopic glasses for people with low vision to access the driving privilege. A review of the regulations in 2021 reported a consensus position on their use could not be reached among experts. I want to know how other countries with similar regulations came to a consensus position and how the disability community can work with the medical community to ensure the best possible access. I will look at how regulations were developed and implemented, also, what resources and training are available to experts and driver licencing authorities.
