To develop sustainable collection environment guidelines for Australian cultural organisations featured image
Key recommendations from this Churchill Fellowship focus on the gathering and publication of information that will assist cultural heritage organisations to implement more sustainable approaches to collection care. These include: Gathering and publishing on the AICCM website local case-studies that document the planning and progress made by cultural heritage organisations that have or are adopting wider parameters for collection care. Gathering and publishing on the AICCM website a list of temperature and relative humidity parameters for collection care that are used by national and state cultural heritage organisations, as a reference point for other organisations. Encouraging broad-scale industry change by approaching organisations such the Council of Australian Art Museum Directors (CAAMD) and the Council of Australian Museum Directors (CAMD) with tailored strategies promoting the adoption of the ratified AICCM Environmental Guidelines for Australian Cultural Heritage Collections (2018). Continue the development of AICCM online resources that facilitate and promote sustainable collection care practices. Specifically to develop models and logic-trees to support decision-making around the selection of specific temperature and relative humidity parameters for cultural heritage organisations. A key outcome from this Churchill Fellowship is the publication of the AICCM Environmental Guidelines for Australian Cultural Heritage Collections (2018). https://aiccm.org.au/about/who-we-are/advocacy/environmental-guidelines-australian-cultural-heritage-collections AICCM, through this Churchill Fellowship and the work of the Environmental Guidelines Committee is continuing to develop online resources and information to inform and support cultural heritage organisations to adopt sustainable temperature and relative humidity parameters for the management of collection environments.
