To explore how health systems can innovate to reduce their environmental footprint featured image
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the world, and all sectors need to take urgent action to mitigate their greenhouse gas emissions. The health sector is a significant contributor to emissions, with a recent Australian study estimating that the sector contributes around 7 per cent of all national emissions. Hospitals are particularly resource intensive as they operate continuously and need to comply with high standards of hygiene, safety and quality to protect patients. This project will explore how international health systems have developed solutions to deliver environmentally sustainable healthcare to support implementation of the Sustainable Health Review reform program in WA.
