To investigate drivers for regenerative agriculture to incentivise adoption of these practices in Australia featured image

Regenerative agriculture can be a divisive topic. But at its very heart, its aims and objectives are noble - the enabling of long-term agriculture and food production that encourages coexistence with biodiversity and the natural environment. The expected increase in global population of close to 10 billion by 2050 means there is a need for a 70 per cent increase in food production. Coupled with declining soil health, the need for the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices is becoming more urgent.

My project examines the drivers and incentives for regenerative agriculture, particularly focused on:

  • consumer drivers and sentiment around regenerative agriculture
  • financing mechanisms to support and de-risk the transition for farmers
  • the role of verification/assurance programs and traceability in driving the adoption of regenerative agriculture
  • differentiated supply chains for regenerative agriculture products

I will be travelling to New Zealand (Wellington and Christchurch), the USA (Boulder/Denver, Minneapolis, Madison and New York), Amsterdam and London.
