Of all the ideas in policing, one stands out as the most powerful force for change; police
practices should increasingly be based on scientific evidence about 'what works'. Development of the value between research and practice suggests a new paradigm for police improvement and community safety: evidence-based crime prevention and practice. This increasingly sees police in the field, supported by academia, generate empirical research and use evidence to guide policing practice. This CF examines 'EBP' with the emergence of various international societies of EBP, agency led EBP centres and academic institutions supporting collaboration.
