There were countless learning opportunities at each site I visited. Specific highlights included: learning about the exciting research happening in the field of early speech intervention for toddlers with cleft palate observing different approaches to intervention - both motor learning and linguistic approaches the opportunity to talk with experts both professionally and during a number of social gatherings, whose books and journal articles I have been reading for a long time, and who have greatly influenced my clinical practice and my understanding of cleft palate speech observing and participating in multidisciplinary cleft palate and craniofacial clinics from different parts of the world.
