To investigate the use of blood products in the pre hospital setting featured image

Haemorrhage is the leading cause of death in trauma patients. Current Treatment in Texas (USA) focuses on increasing survival rates by administrating blood products in the pre hospital setting via ambulance paramedics. Texas is seen as a progressive pioneer in this field of modern trauma care and has shown a significant trend in improving survival rates over the last 4 years. The project would encompass observing and learning how Texas ambulance services deliver this intervention and how they accomplished success ( storage , maintenance , training, cost) The prospect of changing pre hospital major trauma practice in NSW has the potential to decrease mortality and progress ambulance services in NSW.

In order to gather an extensive knowledge of the use and logistics of pre hospital blood products I will be spending time at the San Antonio Fire Department , The Harris County Emergency Corps and the Cypress Creek Emergency Medical Services to which I have already made contact via email and zoom to learn about their exciting programs and initiatives.
