To investigate the use of creative arts modalities with people born deafblind to improve wellbeing featured image
My vision is for people born deafblind, known as CDB (congenital deafblindness) to have improved quality of life in Australia. Currently people with CDB are one of the most isolated members of our community with extremely poor wellbeing. Creative arts modalities (movement, dance, music, tactile arts) are perfectly suited to support wellbeing; however in Australia there is a critical gap in both knowledge and utilisation of these modalities with this population. To achieve my vision – I must investigate, connect with and research programs, organisation, places and people where creative arts modalities are already used for emotional wellbeing and bring my learnings back to Australia to implement and share.
