My project will investigate successful urban farms, farm incubators and training programs to analyse which urban farm training models would be successful in Australian communities. I will visit North America's largest urban street farm; an urban farm training program in Chicago; two successful farm incubators, known as Farmstarts; and a University renowned for urban farm innovation, research and enterprises. On return, my vision is to establish an accessible urban farm hub that teaches then employs people from diverse backgrounds in meaningful work, growing good food and connecting growers to consumers. The hub will be a vibrant incubator, spawning small scale urban farms, orchards and value-added enterprises.
