To research and update home food gardening information for the north Australian tropical climate featured image
Home food gardens generate pleasure, enhance people’s mental and physical health and ensure greater food security and quality. The recent global pandemic has sparked increased interest in home-grown food. This project will support the NT community to grow their own food with increased knowledge and confidence. Expanding on my 2001 book ‘Tropical Food Gardens’ about growing fruit, vegetables and herbs in North Australia, I will travel to places with similar tropical climates, meet food gardeners and food gardening organisations and research new plants and gardening techniques for tropical gardens. Then I will create a new tropical food garden book for north Australia, with accompanying website and podcasts.
