Suicide and suicide prevention remain critical issues for every Australian community. The project was to gain an insight and understanding of the various strategies utilised within the Unites States in addressing youth suicide prevention and review recent thinking in regard to these issues. This investigation included a desire to gain best practice knowledge on prevention, intervention and postvention practices. A number of pertinent questions were raised at the beginning of this project. What does the data tell us about school populations and suicide? How should education institutions respond? What is the responsibility of a school and its personnel?
