Hydrogen is a clean-burning molecule that could become a new form of energy storage, a new fuel export and a zero-carbon substitute for fossil fuels in hard-to-abate sectors of the Australian economy. This Churchill fellowship will facilitate research into emerging technologies and planning methods at world-leading hydrogen research institutions in the USA and Japan covering topics including large-scale hydrogen applications and export markets. The applicant will apply the new knowledge to develop a state-of-the-art modelling tool for Australia. This will benefit Australia by planning a pathway to maximise value to consumers by designing a low emission, low cost, and reliable hydrogen and electricity market.
