Water is the most precious resource globally and its most efficient use is the only option for the future. This project will lead to innovation in alternative treatment technology for water recycling applications for Australian conditions and build critical capability from global expertise. Climate change impacts are driving the need for water recycling, with WA currently the only state with an operating full advanced treatment (FAT) scheme for drinking water purposes. However, significant work is underway internationally on alternative technologies such as ozone, BAC and advanced oxidation. Technical comparisons of these technologies to FAT will inform future water recycling applications nationwide.
